Whether it’s your child’s first or tenth visit with us, we do everything in our power to ensure that they have a positive, educational and comfortable experience. To start, our waiting room is filled with toys and books for your child to play with while they wait for their appointment. Once we take your child back, if it’s their first time and they feel a bit nervous, we will let them walk around the exam room and ask questions about the different dental instruments to make them feel more comfortable. To keep them feeling relaxed, we have televisions for them to watch. During the exam, we make sure to explain to your child everything that we are doing and why we are doing it, so not only will they feel more comfortable, but so they learn a little bit more about dentistry.
Also during your child’s dental appointments with us, we make sure to give them hands-on learning when it comes to brushing and flossing correctly. We will even give them a new toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and a prize for being brave during their visit. Pediatric dentistry should be a positive and fun experience for your child and you can be sure to find that at A Healthy Smile Dentistry in Florham Park.
If your child is in need of a dental exam or treatment, look no further than A Healthy Smile Dentistry. Your child can experience pediatric dentistry with a pediatric dentist which makes a huge difference in the level of comfort and care they receive. Make your child’s next dental appointment in Florham Park by giving us a call at 973-377-2222 or filling out our online contact form.
Although children can receive the same procedures as adults, we hope to avoid all restorative procedures by implanting a strong focus on preventive care. Aside from regular dental exams and cleanings, your child will likely avoid most dental procedures unless they have an accident or experience a cavity. Some of the preventive procedures your child will have at our office are the placement of dental ceilings on their molars as well as fluoride treatments. Dental ceilings prevent food and particles from becoming trapped on the tops of the molars. Fluoride treatments give your child extra protection against tooth decay and cavities.
During adolescence, we also look for the development of bite problems or crooked, crowded, misaligned or gapped teeth. These problems can be addressed with a simple orthodontic treatment. Dr. Gohard is ready to provide any necessary dental treatment your child needs to maintain a healthy smile.

Whether you already have missing teeth or you are visiting our dental office and find out that dentures might be a good option for you, every patient may experience a different type of preparation for dentures. First, Dr. Gohard will examine your mouth to see if you need to have any additional teeth pulled before beginning the dentures procedure. If you have only a few remaining teeth and their future doesn’t look promising, we might recommend having them pulled.
Once Dr. Gohard has declared you a good candidate for dentures, she will provide you with a pair of temporary dentures to wear until your permanent ones arrive from the lab. If you recently had teeth pulled, we will need to wait until your gums completely heal to take impressions for your permanent dentures. While you wait for your permanent pair to return from the lab, you will wear temporary dentures which will help you get used to the feeling of wearing them daily. Once your gums are healed from any extractions you had, our dentist in Florham Park will take impressions of your gums.
When your permanent pair of dentures return from the lab, Dr. Gohard will have you try them on to confirm that they fit correctly. If necessary, she will make adjustments so they fit more comfortably. Once the fit is right, you can be on your way.
